Communicable Diseases

The goal of the Communicable Disease Program is to protect the health of the community through the prevention, early diagnosis, and appropriate management of communicable diseases and conditions. 

Public Health works to prevent and respond to disease outbreaks. Healthcare providers are required by California State Law to report certain diseases to the local public health department.

Outbreak Reporting:

A workplace outbreak is defined when an employer identifies 3 or more cases of COVID-19 at a worksite within a 14-day period. California law AB-685 requires employers to notify employees who may have been exposed to COVID-19 and to report workplace outbreaks to the local health department. The employer is required to report this to the local health department within 48 hours. Businesses can report outbreaks by calling 707-464-0861 or emailing dnphreport@dnco.org. 

Electronic Disease Reporting:

California Reportable Disease Information Exchange (CalREDIE) allows medical providers to submit CMR forms electronically through the statewide secure web-based reporting system. If you are a provider and are interested in becoming a CalREDIE user, please apply using the CalREDIE Provider Portal User Account Authorization Form.
