Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed) 
In Del Norte County, SNAP-Ed is a collaborative partnership between the United States Department of Agriculture, the California Endowment, and the Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Branch of the California Department of Public Health supporting nutrition education and obesity prevention for CalFresh recipients and eligible.


Goal
The overall goal of SNAP-Ed is to improve the likelihood that persons eligible for CalFresh will make healthy food choices within a limited budget and choose active lifestyles consistent with current USDA guidelines.

MissionThrough innovative partnerships, programs, and policy initiatives, we promote healthy eating, physical activity, and food security with an emphasis on communities with the greatest health disparities.

  • Fruits and Vegetables; Harvest of the Month/ Farm-to-Fork program promotion and education
  •  Refresh Better with Water and Rethink Your Drink
  • Healthy Kids; Nutrition Education in classrooms
  • Food Security; Famers Market promotion, Community/School Garden promotion, Shop Healthy Here retail program 
  • Physical Activity; Shape of Yoga, Power Up in Ten, Active Play
  • The Power is in Your Hands; Champions for Change program features real people who have committed to make small healthy changes and inspire others to join in the movement
