Public Health Nursing



Nurses in public health are involved in a variety  of programs which allow us to care for the people of the community, monitor & prevent the spread of disease, prevent premature death & educate the community on how to care for themselves & others.

What do we do?
  • We assist in connecting families to health services for prenatal care, medical well child exams, dental care & mental health services.

  • We work together with individuals & families to encourage healthy behavior.

  • We collaborate with community groups, health providers & agencies to facilitate the implements

  • We provide the community with information on chronic diseases, health issues, communicable diseases, immunizations & family planning

  • We respond to disasters & assists the community in recovery

  • We respond to the health needs & concerns of Del Norte County residents & families


We assist individuals who:
  • Are pregnant or have a new baby
  • Want information on family planning
  • Want to know more about a baby or child's health problems
  • Want to learn more about positive parenting skills
  • Have been exposed to a communicable disease
  • Are without a source of medical care or insurance
  • Need to know more about community resources
  • Have questions about physical or emotional health
