Breastfeeding Station

Breastfeeding Station
The station was first set up at the Fairgrounds in 2012 by the Del Norte County Breastfeeding Coalition to serve as a safe place for mothers to feed and change their infants. It is put together and staffed each year by volunteers who truly care about the women, children, fathers, and families in our community and who believe mothers need support in all areas of their life to breastfeed successfully. The goal of the station is to provide mothers and caregivers with a quiet space to care for their little ones, to educate about how to breastfeed successfully, and to provide appropriate community and professional support for families during events.

In 2017, one of the Breastfeeding Coalition members proposed renovating the space at the Fairgrounds. With permission from the Fairgrounds, funding for materials from First 5 Del Norte, and volunteer work from the Breastfeeding Coalition, First 5, and other community membersthe space was updated in time for the 2018 County Fair!
