Del Norte County Public Health is engaged in a broad range of activities designed to promote good health in individuals, families and the community. We provide clinical and preventive services, and work with local health care providers and other community partners to connect people with the resources they need.
We educate, advise, coach, and guide people toward healthier lives for themselves and their families. We plan and prepare for emergency situations and keep vital records of changes in our population and analyze health data.
Public Health services are available to all the residents of Del Norte County. Temporary Changes in Service Due to COVID-19 Pandemic: As of March 24, 2020 at 5:00 pm, all county offices are closed to the public. Services are available through each specific department. Please see the notice for points of contact for each DHHS branch. Public Health services are still available by appointment. Please call 707-464-0861 during our hours of business: Mon-Fri 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Del Norte County Public Health is working closely with healthcare providers, hospitals, and our partners to address novel coronavirus. The department is taking action to protect the public and keep the community informed. Del Norte County Public Health is not directly collecting specimens from patients. Decisions about testing should be made by the healthcare provider, in consultation with the Health Officer as needed.
