Our Culinary Arts Program exposes the ward to working over 200 hours in a commercial kitchen environment. Our Culinary Arts Program is run like a business and it fully supports itself through its catering. The boys are involved in keeping the books, paying suppliers, reinvesting in the program and planning Menus. The boys also study for and take the California Serving Safe Food exam at the local college. Upon their receiving a passing test score the boys in our Culinary Arts Program can obtain a state certification, which puts them to the front of the line in many cases when it comes to looking for employment after they graduate from our ranch program. On some occasions we have had boys take the Culinary experience to the next step and have enrolled in Culinary Arts Schools.
