Family Stabilization

CalWORKs Family Stabilization Program is a component of the CalWORKs Welfare to Work (WTW) program to stabilize families who are in a crisis situation. Instability factors include, but are not limited to:

  • Homelessness or imminent risk of homelessness,
  • A lack of safety due to domestic violence, and/or
  • Untreated or undertreated behavioral needs, including mental health or substance abuse-related needs.

This program provides intensive case management, referrals and limited support services designed to re-stabilize the family. Family Stabilization services are provided for the adult and children in the family and are typically combined with WTW activities.

The goal of the program is to stabilize the family to allow the required WTW adults to participate in the required WTW activities. A designated Family Stabilization Worker will work with you to create a workable plan, refer client to appropriate services, provide support, and follow up assistance.

Availability changes as funding is limited.

How to Get Help

To be eligible, you must already have an open CalWORKs case and be required to participate in WTW. Contact your current eligibility worker or Welfare to Work worker. There will be additional paperwork to complete for the program.
