Seed Inspection

Anyone that sells seed in California is required to register with the State. See the brochure in the Resources section below for more information.

​The Del Norte County Agricultural Commissioner, in cooperation with the California Department of Food and Agriculture, carries out inspection and enforcement activities under the California Food and Agricultural Code section 52288 to verify the accuracy of seed label statements as to variety, type, purity, and germination of seed. Enforcement of the California Seed Law regarding marketing and labeling helps to ensure that consumers receive the desired end product.​
