sUAS (Drone) Flight Information
The Department of Information Technology operates a sUAS (Drone) for the purpose of mapping various government facilities and gathering imagery for Community Development Projects. All planned flights will be posted to this site at least 24 hours in advance of the flight. We comply with all FAA rules regarding Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
Privacy Considerations
Our drone operators must have an authorized purpose to collect information using a drone, or use drone-collected information. Should information be incidentally collected that could be used to identify persons or private information, the County will remove all personally identifiable information from raw data footage.
Our drone operators are mindful of privacy rights and will not intentionally record or transmit images in any location where a person would have a reasonable expectation of privacy (e.g., inside house, fenced yard, enclosed area only visible from an elevated position). Operators and observers will take reasonable precautions to avoid inadvertently recording or transmitting images in violation of privacy rights
We DO NOT...
- fly over residential areas without written consent from the current tenants.
- perform any kind of law enforcement activities and/or conduct any surveillance activities.
