State Minimum Fire Safe Regulations

Applications for development permits (e.g., building permits, grading permits, use permits), rezones, and subdivisions within the State Responsibility Area or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone of the Local Responsibility Area must comply with the State Minimum Fire Safe Regulations, effective April 1, 2023.

Submit the following form if an exception is needed to approve the development activities:

  • State Minimum Fire Safe Regulations - Exception Request Form - Staff is commonly unable to confirm all needed exceptions until field review has been completed. Applicants are responsible for designing their project to comply with State Minimum Fire Safe Regulations and only requesting an exception if it is absolutely necessary. It is best if the applicant is proactive and submits an exception request if they know an exception will be needed. If the applicant chooses to be reactive or is unaware an exception is needed the application may be held incomplete until the exception request has been submitted.
