Americans with Disabilities Act Information

ADA Law and the County of Del Norte
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, coupled with the provisions of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities by public entities in the provision of services, programs, meetings and activities offered to the public, including employment activities. The County of Del Norte strives to ensure that County services, programs, meetings, activities, and facilities are accessible to all persons. A copy of the County's printed public notice can be accessed here: Public Notice.pdf

Auxiliary Aids or Other Accommodations
Upon request, the County will provide appropriate auxiliary aids/services or other reasonable accommodations for disabled individuals who need them in order to participate in employment activities, such as submitting an application for employment or participating in an interview, or to participate in County services, programs, meetings or other activities, unless to do so would result in a fundamental alteration of its programs or an undue administrative or financial burden. The County will not charge to cover the cost of providing these auxiliary aids/services or other reasonable accommodations.

Requests for accommodations should be submitted to the ADA Coordinator as far in advance as possible, but no later than two (2) business days prior to the scheduled event.

Public meeting announcements include information on requesting accommodations to participate in public meetings.
